Enduring Life Bumps

The challenges we encounter in our lives can break our will to live and just cause us to settle to live life out of routine instead of living with purpose. Simply put,  life becomes no more than going through the motions and putting on masks to cover up what’s really going on… Confusion, Perplexity, Upheaval.

Boy oh boy!! I understand the difficulty of looking beyond  the debris of wrong turns and hasty decisions to minimize the inner turmoil and discomfort of Life Bumps.

I believe when we are broken to the point of no repair, that is when Daddy God, IF WE REACH UP AND REACH OUT TO HIM, WILL MEND OUR BROKEN PIECES AND PUT US BACK TOGETHER AGAIN!

However, the key is looking beyond “The Stuff” to see that Daddy God is waiting for us and has not left us behind.

In the end…

It comes down to to making “A Choice to Live and not just Existing, and a DETERMINATION to regain a resolve to GET UP, TRUST, AND RELY AGAIN on Daddy God no matter what!”

Our Prayer… Psalms 51:1-2,7-8, 10-12 ESV

Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your steadfast love;
according to your abundant mercy
blot out my transgressions.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
and cleanse me from my sin!
Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Let me hear joy and gladness;
let the bones that you have broken rejoice.
Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from your presence,
and take not your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and uphold me with a willing spirit.

On Character…

One’s character basically exposes who you REALLY ARE! The more “true to myself I am,”  My character becomes refined and defined.

One’ character is refined and restructured 24/7 by one’s encounters and interactions with others.

For Character puts on display “The True Inner Self.”

Life’s Staircase of Learning…

This picture intrigued me! As I looked at, it reminded me about life, in particular my life in 2015. Life for me has been like walking up a staircase. When I first began, I hStaircase.jpgad an idea about what I wanted to accomplish in my journey of life in 2015. However, things did not proceed as I wanted them too. My goal was to complete my Alcohol and Drug Counseling Studies and complete the required internship hours…Praise Daddy God, I accomplished this task. Next, was to secure and find a job in this field by the end of 2015, and begin the process of getting back on my feet from being laid off in July of 2014.
Well….This is where my staircase of life picks up for sure. Not everything happens or works out as you want it do. To date, I am still aggressively putting in resumes, going to interviews and waiting for that call that will say, ” Ms. Jones, congratulations, you are now a part of our ______________ team! As I continued taking on one step at a time on my life staircase, I found myself in Daddy Gods classroom of learning life his way and not my way.
The thought reminded me of the following scripture: Isaiah 55:8-9 New Living Translation (NLT),
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.
“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
For just as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so my ways are higher than your ways
and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.
OBJECT LESSON: Daddy God’s timing does not work within my window, expectations, or time frame.  Rather, IT IS DADDY GOD’S TIME FRAME THAT ALL THINGS WILL HAPPEN! Along with object lesson, I began learning and I am continuing to learn what it means to “RECKLESSLY TRUST” Daddy God for ALL things. Recklessly, because it is total abandonment of oneself, ones strength, power, knowledge and know how. Simply put, BECOMING EMPTY IN ORDER TO BE FILLED TO THE BRIM!

Folks, I’m still learning this and will probably be learning this 24/7. The scripture that comes to mind:
Proverbs 3:5-6 New Living Translation (NLT)
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.”
Finally, as I continue to walk up more steps in my journey of life, I also realize that the process that Daddy God has me in, which is recklessly trusting, depending and totally relying on him for ALL of my needs, wants and desires in 2015 will continue into 2016.
THE DIFFERENCE: I have and continue to surrender and submit myself to Daddy God’s plans and purpose for my life. When I fumble and when I attempt to take back control, Daddy God will tenderly remind me and I will instantly responded and relinquish control back to him.
With that said, I am daily, 24/7 learning to understand and live the following scriptures out in my life. Like lacing up my shoes and taking one step at a time…

“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see”  (Hebrews 11:1 NLT).

Psalm 23 (NLT)

“The Lord is my shepherd;
I have all that I need.
He lets me rest in green meadows;
he leads me beside peaceful streams.
He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
bringing honor to his name.
Even when I walk
through the darkest valley,
I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
protect and comfort me.
You prepare a feast for me
in the presence of my enemies.
You honor me by anointing my head with oil.
My cup overflows with blessings.
Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me
all the days of my life,
and I will live in the house of the Lord
I hope that these thoughts that I have shared, gives you a peek into what I’m grasping as I sit in the front row and front seat in Daddy God’s life classroom. It has started in 2015, but my learning will continue into 2016 and beyond.

Do I and will I have missteps and hiccups? Absolutely! Will I stumble and fall? Without a doubt! BUT, it is how I respond when those times comes and it is having the right heart attitude.
While I do not know the “how, what, when, and where,” I’m learning that Daddy God will keep in perfect peace all who trust in him, and all whose thoughts are fixed (glued) on him! (Isaiah 26:3 NLT – my paraphrase). So my resolve as I continue to learning the “Life lessons Daddy God has preplanned for me to learning is to:

Relentlessly and Recklessly Trust Daddy God with ALL my mind, soul, strength, and power. Rely, Depend, and keep my Eyes Fixed on him, even in the midst of challenges and struggles. More important, embrace and grow deeper in my relationship with Daddy God!

The Season of Giving is Year Round!

As I ponder about this year, I’m learning that the season of giving is year round. I have also found that it is much more than material things and accumulating that latest and greatest things. Rather, it is the embrace and touch of individuals. It is accepting the extension of another’s hand in time of need. It is receiving a hug to comfort you and extend ones love from heart to heart. It is allowing yourself to surrender your control and stubborn will for the sake of letting other’s into your life that Daddy God has placed on your road of the journey of life.

Yes, the season of giving is definitely year round, but we, in particular myself at times, have allowed the cares, struggles, and challenges of everyday life to blind our eyes to see what special and unique gifts are standing at our individual doors to be received!!

I pray that we allow Daddy God to open our eyes to see and see again the special and unique gifts awaiting each of us. That we become like a child, waiting with anticipation about what is in store, and being open to the possibility that the gift or gifts might come in different shapes, sizes, and colors.

Most important, I hope that we always remember the special gift that Daddy God gave us in his son – Jesus! The awesome thing about this gift, it is a gift that is year round!!

Revelation 3:20 give us a clear example of this:

“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.” NLT

Peering through Another’s Eyes to See & See Again!

It is so easy to peer into an individual’s eye and not see what is truly going on inside of them. It is easy to make assumptions about an individuals behaviors and facial expressions without considering the “WHY.”

Only if we could, as individuals in this society have the continual resolve to “see and see again.” If only we would be willing to see the good and the best in others before placing judgments and making assumptions.

The saying, “first impressions are lasting impressions” is true, but the one thing that was left out to me was…first impressions can also be a masking of who the individual really is and what the individual is experiencing in their lives.

Reach out! Genuinely touch a life of another with love, acceptance, and forgiveness! Give without looking for anything in return!

Listen to hear, and listen to hear again, because you never know when you might be giving the hope and lifeline to another! – Victoria C Jones © 2014 –

The Power of a Mother’s Love…

A Mother’s love is unconditional and never-ending.

It is always there, always flowing from her heart to her children.

It is so deep and profound, that her children oftentimes cannot comprehend or fathom the “breath and depth” of their mother’s love.

Her love stands tall as the tallest tree, and as deep as the ocean sea.

Regardless of the turbulence or the raging storms that come,

A Mother’s love withstands and constantly flows!

In the end, a Mother’s love is powerful, priceless, and a precious jewel!

Awesome are you, Oh God!

My soul blesses you, Oh God

Who reigns in the heavens and the earth!

Who else is above you?

Who can cause the winds to blow where they will?

Who can speak and all creation comes to attention and obeys?

No one but you, Oh God can do these things!

There is no one greater than you.

There is no one who is all-powerful, and, at the same time totally compassionate and sensitive to those with whom you have created.

Thank you oh God for your mercy and your tender love for me.

When I think of what you have done, I am totally blown away.

You are the ultimate King of Kings,

Mighty and strong,

Awesome ruler,

To you belongs all my praise each and everyday!

And with my whole heart I chose to worship only You!

Cultural Heritage….Our Foundation!!

So many times, I hear individuals say, “they do not want to know their cultural history,or history of our society as a whole.” To be honest, I believe that an individual’s cultural history is a foundation that has defined the framework of who they are. It provides jewels and insights of the foundational aspects of who they are.

But it is these jewels and insights that propel us to build upon the mistakes of the past by learning what not to do, and to grasp the achievements of those, as well who went before us, as a “living testament.”

May we become once again  “students of our individual cultural heritages and be enriched with priceless jewels, and, as well, the history of our society.

Why Is It?

Why is it so easy to forget that Daddy God is here 24/7, and He ain’t going nowhere no time too soon.

Why is it so easy to forget those times when we thought we were losing our minds, that it was Daddy God who calmed the inner turmoil and anxieties deep within us?

Why is it so easy to forget that Daddy God is there 24/7, watching, protecting, and providing for his kids – those who have a relationship with Him and, what I call his “kids in waiting”- those who have not entered into relationship with Him.

Why it is so easy to forget that He feels our pain, anguish, disappointments, fears, and apprehensions,

Why is it so easy to forget that Daddy God prepares our paths even before we embark on our journey?

Why is it so easy to forget that Daddy God is always around caring for us, loving us, and cheering us on?

Maybe it is the lack of touch.

Maybe it is that the face-to-face encounter is not there.

Maybe it is the absence of “Daddy hugs.”

Maybe it is hearing an audible voice and communication between a father and his son or daughter.

Many reasons and explanations can be proposed and argued to answer this question, “Why Is It?”

However, after all the dialogue has silenced and the questions linger in the air, it comes down this: trust, reliance, belief, and hope in the God of our faith!

Yes, I am a mushy person that desires the “touchy-feely” kind of stuff. How about you?

While I cannot have the touchy-freely” kind of stuff, I am reminded of something I wrote a year or so ago. It was entitled, “Sitting in the Lap of God.”

I reference to this because, I believe more and more that Daddy God knows how to give us those kind of moments of being ever so close to Him, sitting on His lap if you will, or looking into His eyes through the windows of our spirits.

More than that, taking His hand to wipe away our tears or whispering in our ears, “it’s gonna be alright because I am here with you always – Daddy God got your back, front, and sides.”

Oh, to have one of those encounters right now!

So . . . what is the answer to this inquiry?

Well . . . I believe it is all about CHOICE! We can choose to trust, rely, believe and hope in God, OR . . . we can depend on our own strength, and become doubtful and hopeless.

I choose to “trust, rely, believe, and hope in God.” How about you?

TRUST: Trust in the fact that Daddy God is and will always here for you NO MATTER WHAT! Like a “Ruthless, Relentless” Trust with the determination to hold on to it like our very life depends on it.

RELY IN AND ON HIM: Just as we need air to breathe, food and water to survive, even more CHOOSE to put complete confidence and reliance in Daddy God . . . Let us declare that…He is the air that WE desire to breathe!

BELIEVE: Believe even when things look doomed. Believe when others or you tell yourself,  “I can’t make it,” “it too hard,” or “I don’t have what it takes” because reliance and strength comes from Daddy God and not from ourselves.

HOPE: Against ALL odds and circumstances, HOPE says, “all things remain possible.”

The Strength of TRUTH that Prevails!!

“Truth in a matter, when it is seen and apparent, is difficult to receive and accept.

Courage and an enduring resolve to respond and act, dictates that TRUTH stands, even in the midst of uncomfortableness!”
